ATHLETE PERFORMANCE PLANS

Athlete Performance Plan
"Talk about the the next killer APP…"

Young Medalists has revolutionized the art of training-program development with its proprietary Athlete Performance Plans (APP). This innovative concept is Young Medalists' blueprint for developing predictable and consistent performances in high percentages of its athletes--the hallmark of any world class program.

All athletes working with a YM Coaching Bundle in the Young Medalists' program are provided this proprietary training-management tool to help reach their true potential. Never be in the dark again when it comes to your training!

The Young Medalists APP is made up of these three key components:

  • Training Course OutlinesTM (TCO). The TCO is a periodized long-term training plan designed around the Annual Racing Term and developed with athlete input through an examination of the rider's performance history, racing experience, physiological test results, physical maturity, health factors, and personal goals. The TCO is the foundation from which all training is developed and assessed. Athletes will have access to a client version of the TCO via a customized Excel-based spreadsheet provided by their YM Coach. Currently being used by coaches, available to clients Winter Session 2010.
  • Session Overview and Performance Schedule (SOPS) with GoalChartTM. Written Sessional summary with short-term quarterly goals provided to each athlete at the start of each three-month Session. The GoalChart is a feedback mechanism that uses objective indices and subjective assessments for defining and managing the expected performance and the personal goals of the athlete. Available Winter Session 2010.
  • Phase Calendar. These are the monthly calendars that provide day-to-day workouts, weekly microcycle summaries, athlete training logs, and other critical "need to know" training and racing information in an online "always-available" format. For the 2010 Annual Racing Term, Young Medalists will use Training Peaks' web-based software to provide this service. Available Autumn Session 2009.

Integrated Performance Management combines the APP with the following supportive assessment tools to create an unmatched level of oversight available by the coach to the athlete:

  • Sports-adapted SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) and STEP (Social, Technical, Economic, and Physical) analyses at the beginning of the Annual Racing Term and at each quarter. Available Winter Session 2010.
  • Athlete Performance Testing. The competent use of data provided by athlete's baseline and recurring performance testing for establishing training zones and evaluating program efficacy and future direction.
  • Wellness Monitor. An Excel-based spreadsheet that logs the athlete's sleep patterns, bodyweight, morning HR, mood, and overall wellness for review by their YM Coach. Available Winter Session 2010.
  • Other factors that the coach deems necessary to competently assess and direct the athlete toward their goals.
  • Now, riders can access and interpret their daily schedules with ease, freeing up time to focus on the most important part of their program: training, racing, and recovering!
